Hit It!

My friend and I were asked to DJ a dance that was on Friday. I’m not sure how or why we were chosen because we both absolutely hate hip-hop today and that is the majority of the music at our dances. In fact, I don’t like much new music at all. I think that we got good songs though. We tried to mix some new stuff with some old stuff.

I think the dance went well though. There were a couple of times were I wanted to tell some people to just shut the fuck up and listen to the damn music. We had one person that just wanted to “get crunk” and another person who wanted slow songs the whole damn dance. Well I was trying to deal with all kinds of shit at once. I was sick, trying to make people happy, and trying to solve my girlfriend problem or the lack there of that is. Well it was going average until the last hour of the dance. Out of no where I started feeling extremely sick again. So I spent that last hour feeling miserable. Then the most annoying thing happened. The last song came on, a slow song of course, and a girl asked me to dance. Well I would consider this girl out of my league. I don’t even try to flirt with her because I’m sure there is no way I could date her anyway. Well, I start walking toward her and then my brother, oh yes my brother, looks at her with this dissapointed face, waves me off, and totally cock blocks me! My brother has had a crush on her for some time and everyone knows that he doesn’t have a chance. Not to say that I do, I just wrote that I don’t. I just wanted to punch him. That was like the lowest thing any brother could do to another brother. Then to top it all off Cody (my friend) got a girlfriend. Why is this a bad thing? We made a wager where if I got a girlfriend first then he would have to not talk for a full day of school and if he won then I couldn’t talk for a full day of school. It could be worse but it is going to be hard not to talk. It wasn’t a very good night at all.

So It’s Been Awhile/Ironman

Posted in misc. stuff, movies, stupid people on May 8, 2008 by tinyalien

Yes, it has been a very long time since my last post. I am deeply sorry but, for some reason, I just was not in the mood to type. I haven’t been up to too terribly much during my dissapearance. I’ve been pretty lazy lately. I spend my time doing school, playing NBA 2K8, watching some good television, some not so good television, and an occasional movie.  The most recent movie I watched was Iron Man. I will be screaming out my love for it in the next paragraph.

Alright so Iron Man was the best superhero movie made so far. Robert Downey Jr. is the bomb diggity yo. He played the part so damn well. Now I have to pause my rejoicing for a second to complain. Not about the movie but about some of it’s viewers. I have heard from a couple of people, not so smart highschoolers, that it didn’t have enough action. I wanted to slap every single one of them. They did the story extremely well, and the movie was how the first Ironman movie should have been done. Now back to my rejoicing; I just had to get that out of the way while I was thinking of it. They were giving hints in the movie about some of the stuff that would be in the movies to come. Like apparently War Machine is going to be in the second one and S.H.I.E.L.D will have some major significance. Also, they hinted a little at Ironman’s alcohol problems. I can’t wait for the second one to come out. I only have one complaint about the movie. Why did Tony Stark openly admit that he was Ironman? That kind of annoyed me. The fact that it was at the end of the movie bugged me even more. They buttered me up all movie with how well they did the Ironman story. I’m not an expert on Ironman, in fact, I have never read one of the comics, but I do know the story decent enough (Wikipedia is awesome). What I do know is that he denied being Ironman and had to cover it up like 3-4 times. Well after all of the buttering up, they just drop that bomb on me. It stung a little but not too much. Also the scene after the credits was interesting. Not sure what the next movie is going to be like.

While we were waiting for Ironman to start, they showed the trailer for the next Batman. Well, it looks freakin cool as hell. I can’t wait, it has potential to be even better than Ironman was. Also saw the trailers for Prince Caspian and the new Indiana Jones. I am pumped for Prince Caspian because I am a huge Narnia nerd. I have only seen one Indiana Jones movie, I know crazy huh? If it is an consolation, I really liked the one I saw. Well that should catch me up I’d say.

The Office is Back

Posted in television on April 18, 2008 by tinyalien

The second episode since it has been back was tonight. It was good. When I heard that Kevin and Andy were fighting over a parking spot, I thought they were fighting with each other. I was just a little dissapointed when I figured out they weren’t fighting each other but helping each other get back there spaces. I just think it would have been funnier if they were fighting each other. Anyways they were still funny and Michael was awesome as usual. I was laughing my ass off when Michael calls Wendy’s (the fast-food resturaunt) thinking that it’s some “juicy red head”. The end, when Michael and Dwight are singing “The Day Music Died”, was also hilarious.

The first episode was funny, awkward, and almost creepy. Michael and Jan’s relationship was so fucked up. Some of the parts were hard to laugh at, because it was so so sad. For example, the part where he lays on his tiny bed in front of Jan’s huge bed. The most awkward and creepy part was probably when Michael leans over to Pam and says “I don’t want to eat the food”. Pam says “Why?” and Michael replies “I think Jan might be trying to poison me”. I also really liked it when she brakes his $200 plasma television with his Dundee Award. The episode was actually funnier when I was thinking about it than when I was watching it.

Video Pick: Super Mario Chalmers

Posted in sports, video on April 9, 2008 by tinyalien

Oh yes, it feels awesome. Like I said in my previous post, I turned 16 on Sunday and got a car. Well, the car and my Jayhawks getting a championship has to be the greatest birthday presents ever. Ok, the only thing that could possibly top that would be if I had tickets to the game. I am still completely satisfied. Thank you Kansas University!

Now about the game itself. This was the greatest game I have ever watched. It was so fast-paced and intense. I thought I was going to cry when they were up nine with two minutes left in the game. All these dreadful memories of a certain team, named Syracuse, came washing into my brain and giving me a horrible headache. I don’t think I could have taken another championship loss. All I have ever wanted was KU winning it all during my childhood. Well, thanks to some bad free throw shooting and Super Mario Chalmers, my worries and my head ache were all in vain. When Mario Chalmers hit the shot to put it into overtime I freaked the hell out. I could watch that shot an infinite amount of times and never get bored. That shot put so much confidence in me that I believed that there was no way possible we could lose. The fact that it was the 20th anniversary of Danny Manning and the Miracles just made it all the more great. It couldn’t have been any better. I was so pumped that I couldn’t fall asleep.

Random Happenings

Well the 6th of April would be my 16th bithday so that is something to look forward to, I guess. I’ve never been big on birthdays. I usually just treat my birthday as a normal day. I plan on just going to my grandparent’s and eating a fuck-load of ribs and potato salad…ahhh yeah! My birthday present is the traditional car. I got lucky to tell the truth. About a week before my older brother’s 16th my parents were looking for a new car for my dad. Well my dad, being the coolest father he is, decided to just go ahead and give it to my brother; This, of course, guaranteed me one. The cool part is that I actually got to pick my car. I chose a white 04′ Chrystler Sebring.

In other news, KU rocks my fuckin socks off. I have to be honest, I wasn’t sure they would be able to win against NC. Although, this just brings back some horrible memories of that national championship of 2002-03. Damn you Syracuse, damn you to hell! I think we match up well with Memphis. I think it will come down to whoever is in better shape. I can’t wait to watch that game. It will be so up-tempo and exciting.

Religion?

Posted in religion on March 27, 2008 by tinyalien

About a couple months ago I starting having doubts, for the first time in my life, about whether religion or Christianity for that matter are true or not. What triggered all this was when a hard-core Christian man went up to a friend of mine after a basketball game and commented on the warm-up music. Well all the music was rap and the man said “What’s with all this n****r shit?”

It was at that moment that I question my religion and my fellow Christians. You notice a lot more shit that doesn’t make sense when you aren’t fully devoted.  Christianity has too many questions that don’t have answers…or atleast answers that don’t sound like complete bullshit. My main question is why? Why did God even create the Earth in the first place. Why did he create humans? Is there a point to our existence or was he just bored one day and decided to create shit? So far I haven’t found someone who can answer any of those questions. This is not the only reason for my doubts though. I read in history books or hear my teacher tell me about all the killing Christians have done in the past and it makes me wonder. If your religion is about love then why did you kill people for not believing what you believe or enslave millions of people because they were different?

Then again I have a hard time believing in science. I just can’t grasp the fact that I came from a bacteria. I mean, I believe in evolution to an extent but that just seems ridiculous. I guess I could just believe in nothing but that doesn’t really feel right either. I can’t believe in any other religion because the rest make less sense than Christianity. I am just going to stop worrying about it so much though because it is just getting stressful. The most stressful part of it is that I can’t even talk to anyone about it because almost everyone that I associate with is hard-core Christians. I told my mom and she surprisingly didn’t freak out, but I could tell that she was upset. She is the only one I have told. The only other person I could talk about it too would probably be Jamaal (cousin), because he isn’t interested in religion but he knows about it and is easy to talk too. I don’t have time to talk to him though so I finally decided to make this post. I had to let something out. I know this probably sounds stupid to a lot of people, but when you have been devoted to something all your life and then realize it might all be bullshit…well it can get upsetting.

Dead Like Me (Season 1)

My cousin had been trying to get me to watch this for awhile. I kept procrastinating because it didn’t appeal to me for some reason. I was wrong. This is a very good show. It has a clever story and hilarious humor. The only real complaint I have is that they don’t follow up very well on previous episodes. For example, in one episode they introduce a new a character who was very important in that episode but after that episode she never showed up again. The main character’s relationship with her just ended when the episode ended. The writing in the show is really good. Rub’s dialogue is very good. I love characters that are assholes and very intelligent. Milly/George is a character you can understand and the actress does really well with the character. I enjoyed season 1 very much and am now in the process of getting through season 2. Which so far has been just as good as the 1st. Although I hear that Showtime dropped the show so it just kind of ends. Even though I know it’s going to happen, the sudden ending is going to piss me off I’m sure.

Video Pick: Loser

Here is Beck doing the best wierd but enjoyable song ever created. This is the only song I have heard by Beck, and I don’t really hold him very high on my favorite people list but it still saddens me to know that he is a scientologist. I don’t understand scientology. It just makes no sense to me and after watching Tom Cruise, I don’t think I want it to make sense.

I Got Me A Wirless Router…

Posted in gadgets on March 3, 2008 by tinyalien

…Finally. I have been waiting for my mom to buy me one for what seems like forever. I got a Lynksys and it works great for my computer so far. I couldn’t get it to work on my brother’s computer for some reason. I couldn’t figure it out. Hopefully I can get some help and we will get it working. It feels so good to get on the internet in my room. I can finally listen to music without my parents bitching or having uncomfortable headphones on. Now all I need to get is the wireless adapter for my 360. I’m not in too much of a rush to go get it considering it is way overpriced. I also bought a rollie chair lol. My room is finally starting to look how I want it to look.

Dead Presidents

Before I watched this movie, I always just thought of it as the movie with people in cool facepaint lol. Well the facepaint wasn’t quite as important as I thought; in fact, it was just there to make them look cool. Anyways the movie itself was pretty good. The story was alright, nothing complex by any means. The acting was pretty good. Chris Tucker was…well Chris Tucker lol. As far as urban dramas go, this one was unique. It a lot of the same urban drama most movies do, but it also had a lot of urban drama you don’t usually see. The robbery at the end was definantly in the top 10 worst ever. The worst group of robbers ever: A heroin addict, guy who likes to blow shit up, a preacher, a militant black woman, oh, and a normal guy lol. You just know something is going to go wrong somewhere with a group like that. It was awesome when he threw the chair at the judge. My cousin and I decided that that was the best chair throw we have ever witnessed and that Bob Knight could have used some lessons from him.
