So How’s Everyone Doin’?

Posted in games, misc. stuff, movies on August 1, 2008 by tinyalien

So it has been awhile huh? Well I do have excuses and, frankly, I don’t care too much if you think they are good ones or not. I had to work all summer and there was some other family issues that I had to tend to, so this little blog here just got kinda shoved to the side. Anyways I am here now so that is all that matters.

I bought Rock Band this summer and have been playing the holy hell out of it. I am now proud to say that I can play the drums on expert. I only play the drums though. Everyonce in awhile I sing but am quickly informed that I suck so I don’t do it very often. I can’t play the guitar anymore. I used to be decent because of Guitar Hero but now I can’t do it at all. I don’t like the guitar any damn way. Well that pretty much sums that up.

I have watched a few movies but the most recent was The Doors. Now I am a HUGE Doors fan and an extremely HUGE Jim Morrison fan. Now the movie I thought was good but the directing was a bit iffy. I thought there was way too much infasis on how much Indians effected him. They just kept showing Indians everywhere. I also learned that there were a good chunk of parts in that movie that the director just added that never happened. That annoys me a little bit. I think if you are going to make a documentary film about a person then the actions he does in the movie should be very close to accurate to what he did in real life. These things annoyed me but I like The Doors so much that I still liked the movie a lot.

Ocean’s Eleven

Posted in movies on May 13, 2008 by tinyalien

Good movie. I had been wanting to watch this movie for a long time but kept forgetting about it. Finally, Saturday I watched it with my cousin. I liked it a lot. Usually George Clooney annoys me but this time I actually liked him. Brad Pitt was awesome as usual. I think they should have had more scenes with him though. At the beginning of the movie he was always around and then towards the middle he just kinda dissappeared, would come back for a short piece of dialogue, then dissappear again. I could just not be remembering a couple of scenes because it has been two days since then but it seemed like he could have been used more. The ending was clever. I hear Ocean’s Twelve sucks and that kinda dissapoints me but, then again, I heard that Thirteen was good. Maybe I should just pretend that Twelve was never made and try out Thirteen.

So It’s Been Awhile/Ironman

Posted in misc. stuff, movies, stupid people on May 8, 2008 by tinyalien

Yes, it has been a very long time since my last post. I am deeply sorry but, for some reason, I just was not in the mood to type. I haven’t been up to too terribly much during my dissapearance. I’ve been pretty lazy lately. I spend my time doing school, playing NBA 2K8, watching some good television, some not so good television, and an occasional movie.  The most recent movie I watched was Iron Man. I will be screaming out my love for it in the next paragraph.

Alright so Iron Man was the best superhero movie made so far. Robert Downey Jr. is the bomb diggity yo. He played the part so damn well. Now I have to pause my rejoicing for a second to complain. Not about the movie but about some of it’s viewers. I have heard from a couple of people, not so smart highschoolers, that it didn’t have enough action. I wanted to slap every single one of them. They did the story extremely well, and the movie was how the first Ironman movie should have been done. Now back to my rejoicing; I just had to get that out of the way while I was thinking of it. They were giving hints in the movie about some of the stuff that would be in the movies to come. Like apparently War Machine is going to be in the second one and S.H.I.E.L.D will have some major significance. Also, they hinted a little at Ironman’s alcohol problems. I can’t wait for the second one to come out. I only have one complaint about the movie. Why did Tony Stark openly admit that he was Ironman? That kind of annoyed me. The fact that it was at the end of the movie bugged me even more. They buttered me up all movie with how well they did the Ironman story. I’m not an expert on Ironman, in fact, I have never read one of the comics, but I do know the story decent enough (Wikipedia is awesome). What I do know is that he denied being Ironman and had to cover it up like 3-4 times. Well after all of the buttering up, they just drop that bomb on me. It stung a little but not too much. Also the scene after the credits was interesting. Not sure what the next movie is going to be like.

While we were waiting for Ironman to start, they showed the trailer for the next Batman. Well, it looks freakin cool as hell. I can’t wait, it has potential to be even better than Ironman was. Also saw the trailers for Prince Caspian and the new Indiana Jones. I am pumped for Prince Caspian because I am a huge Narnia nerd. I have only seen one Indiana Jones movie, I know crazy huh? If it is an consolation, I really liked the one I saw. Well that should catch me up I’d say.

Dead Presidents

Before I watched this movie, I always just thought of it as the movie with people in cool facepaint lol. Well the facepaint wasn’t quite as important as I thought; in fact, it was just there to make them look cool. Anyways the movie itself was pretty good. The story was alright, nothing complex by any means. The acting was pretty good. Chris Tucker was…well Chris Tucker lol. As far as urban dramas go, this one was unique. It a lot of the same urban drama most movies do, but it also had a lot of urban drama you don’t usually see. The robbery at the end was definantly in the top 10 worst ever. The worst group of robbers ever: A heroin addict, guy who likes to blow shit up, a preacher, a militant black woman, oh, and a normal guy lol. You just know something is going to go wrong somewhere with a group like that. It was awesome when he threw the chair at the judge. My cousin and I decided that that was the best chair throw we have ever witnessed and that Bob Knight could have used some lessons from him.

Shawshank Redemption

This movie earned it’s way in my top 3 movies of all time. Almost everything about the movie was perfect. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman were both awesome. I like how they didn’t rush the story at all. It felt like it all developed with perfect  timing. Any person who complains about the length of the film should be shot. It was the perfect length in my opinion. Andy Dufresne was a character that you just had fun watching because he was so cryptic. Through the whole movie you are wondering if there is more to what he is doing and then in the end it all fits. Like I already said, Tim Robbins did awesome. The movie was written great and the actors made sure it looked great on screen. It was just a great movie.

Tombstone

This movie I kept putting off watching. It wasn’t because I wasn’t interested in it; I was actuallay very interested in it. My friend kept hyping it all up like it was the greatest shit since sliced bread and it got on my nerves so I refused to watch it just because he was annoying me. A little childish but in the end it got watched, so here is my review. First off, I did not think it was as good as said friend was making it out to be. It was a very good movie with some awesome characters. The shooting scenes and the scenes with Doc Holliday were both awesome and the rest were just meh. Doc Holliday was a badass, easily my favorite character in the movie. The way he carried himself and his personality were just…well badass. Val Kilmer is the mo’ fuckin man. Wyatt Earp, honestly, kind of annoyed me most of the time. He was alright in parts but I thought that Kurt Russel did a poor job acting. The chick he fell in  love with was hot. I was hoping for some boobage so much *sigh*, but it was only a minor dissapointment when I didn’t get any. Oh, and I smiled when I noticed that the guy who plays John Locke in the “Lost” series played the mayor in this. He has a very small part. I didn’t even recognize him until he said something. Val Kilmer made this movie great, the rest were just there to make him look better. There it is, my review. Now stop bugging me about it Cody.

Three Kings

The first time I watched this I thought it was awesome. The second time it was still really good but not quite as awesome as I first thought. I still thought that it was good but it didn’t hold up as well as I hoped. It seemed like something was missing. I don’t know what that something is but it seemed un-fulfilling. Why did Ice Cube have to go and do bad PG movies? I understand he had kids but he could have still done some serious adult roles. Mark Wahlburg was good as expected. George Clooney was ok. He annoys me for some reason. I think the movie had more potential than it shows on screen, but it was a good movie.

The Protector (Tom Yum Goong)

This is the second Tony Jaa movie that I have seen. This man is ridiculously agile. It is a good thing he is a bad ass because the story in both movies are complete ass. The first movie, Ong Bak, had a better story and better action scenes, in my opinion. The story in The Protector was just stupid. It was like they were trying to make it way more than it was. It is very simple, a man who is raised to protect and take care of elephants gets caught up in a quest to find his stolen elephants and get revenge for his father’s death. Some of the scenes just annoyed me. For example he is wanted by the police; yet, he is walking through the city with his baby elephant. Now I understand it is hard to hide a fucking elephant but you would think that someone would inform the police of a man walking around with an elephant. Apparently no one cared. Anyways with all the complaints about the story aside, the action is awesome as expected. Two fight scenes were just cool as hell. One he is just running up a huge flight of stairs and kicking ass the whole way through. They don’t cut the camera once, which made it all the more cool. The second, he is just breaking a massive amount of bones. I swear there was atleast 35 people laying in pain after he was finished. All in all, this is a good movie if you are in the mood for some good ol’ ass kickin but don’t want to think at all.

I Am Legend (The Book)

I just finished reading the book and it was amazing. I enjoyed every word of it. The way it was written really made you get inside the main character’s, (Robert Neville), mind. You feel like you are actually experiencing what he is experiencing. Through the whole book you are racking your mind, along with Robert Neville, on a theory that fits vampirism. It was an awesome book that I enjoyed completely. I can already tell that the movie is going to suck without watching it. First off, Will Smith is not the character the book describes. In the book Robert is a chronic smoker and drinker through most of it, and I just can’t picture Will Smith downing some liquer while puffin’ on a cancer stick lol. I understand he is good actor, and from what I have heard he made the movie as good as it is, but if it isn’t honest to the book I don’t give a shit. Second, in the trailer the dog was running on a damn treadmill. In the book there is no treadmill and the dog isn’t his bestest companion. A week later, after they finally showed some companionship, the dog died. Third, I heard that the woman he meets in the movie (Ruth, or atleast that was her name in the book) isn’t even a vampire. That just ruins the story all together. It just crushes the most perfect ending for the story. It urks me that Hollywood can’t just be honest to other people’s works. They just have to put their own twist on it. If you can’t make the movie to be honest with the book then maybe it isn’t for the big screen, or maybe you just aren’t the right person for the job. Anyways the book is awesome, and if you like the movie I assume you haven’t read the book.

House M.D (Season 2) & Kill Bill Vol. 2

I went through season 2 just as fast as I did the first…most of season 2 I should say. I borrowe most of my movies/t.v. series/games from my cousin. Well he let his sister borrow House Season 2, and when I get it the last disk is missing. So I haven’t seen the last 3 or 4 episodes and what sucks ass even more is the fact that the episode I was left with is a “to be continued” episode. So I’m just left hanging. Is Foreman gonna die?  Is Cameron infected? Are the pigeons the cause? All these questions and no answer. Once again I put my faith in my cousin to be my friend and he comes through…once again. He downloaded the last episodes so I can be a very happy man. Now I just can’t wait for him to buy season 3 :)

I watched Kill Bill Vol. 2 yesterday. I don’t own Vol. 1 because 2 was a freebie and my DVD collection is low. Like I said, I borrow most my movies so I don’t own many. Now back to the subject. It doesn’t hold up very well. The first time I watched it, I thought it was a really good movie but this time around the acting bugged me in parts and I was bored in the middle. I almost turned it off about three times. A good movie but it just doesn’t hold up well. In other words, a good freebie but not a good buy. Stick with the rent.
